Distributive Computing for reliability analysis of MEMS devices using MATLAB

ABSTRACT
Computational approaches have brought powerful new techniques to calculate reliability supported by experimental and theoretical methods. These approaches play a crucial role in Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology as well. The Reliability modeling codes to calculate reliability function, failure rate function, Mean time to failure (MTTF) and Mean Residual time (MRT) are proposed for MEMS technology. It is observed that High Performance Computing (HPC) can be used to optimize reliability calculation and help to accelerate research in reliability of MEMS. In the proposed work, Modeling and Computation is performed using MATLAB distributed computing toolbox and Sugar MEMS simulation library. This has been done by making a library for MEMS reliability “RSRlib”. It is an extension to SUGAR package for MEMS. It allows the user to perform simulation of a MEMS device in different environments as well as used to compute some aspects of system reliability such as Survival function and failure rate.

 

محاسبه توزیع فراوانی برای آنالیزهای قابل اطمینان انجام شده توسط دستگاه MEMS  با استفاده از نرم افزار MATLAB

روش های محاسباتی روش های جدید و قدرتمندی را برای محاسبه میزان قابل اعتماد بودن نتایج حاصل از روشهای تجربی و نظری به ارمغان آورده اند. این روشها در فن آوری میکرو الکترو مکانیکی ( MEMS ) نیز نقش حیاتی بازی می‏کند. کدهای مدلسازی قابل اطمینانی برای محاسبه ضریب اطمینان توابع، نرخ شکست تابع ، زمان متوسط ​​شکست ( MTTF ) و متوسط ​​زمان باقی مانده ( MRT ) برای فناوری MEMS ارائه شده است. مشاهده شده که با محاسبات با کارایی بالا (HPC) می تواند برای بهینه سازی قابل اطمینان محاسبات و کمک به تسریع تحقیقات در نهایت افزایش اطمینان از نتایج MEMS مورد استفاده قرار گیرد.

Abstract
Increasing worldwide environmental concerns have led to the development of environmentally friendly construction practices and Green roof technology is one possibility for reducing the environmental impact of a building.
Research has shown that significant environmental benefits can be achieved from rooftop gardens in terms of storm water runoff quantity and quality control. For example, at a green roof site in Hannover-Herrenhausen , Germany it was determined th at 5 to 10 cm soil layers retained approximately 65-70% of precipitation runoff during the summer and approximately 50% during the winter .In general, the garden performs better during the spring/summer months than in the fall.Results indicate that the gre en roofs are capable of removing 50% of the annual rainfall volume from a roof through retention and evapotranspiration. Rainfall not retained by green roofs is detained, effectively increasing the time to peak, and slowing peak flows for a watershed. There are seasonal considerations as more runoff is generated during winter and for many summer storms there was no runoff. Green roof runoff does contain concentrations of some nutrients and other parameters, but values are in line with other planted systems. Due to the volume reduction, actual nutrient loadings from green roofs are less than asphalt roofing runoff or otherwise manageable at the downspout.[1] Green roofs have been suggested as a means to reduce the storm water impacts of development because they have been shown to both detain and retain storm water. The purpose of this study was to quantify runoff reductions resulting from This project investigated design specifications and materials of green roofs used as storm water control devices. the use of extensive green roof systems.[9]
