Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) India to introduce the CNG based variant of its
CNG Variants Of Toyota Corolla & Innova
Japanese Automobile major, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced its decision to now also use the low-cost Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel in its vehicle. As such, we can look forward to soon seeing on Indian roads, the CNG fuel variants of its premium sedan, Corolla and multi-utility vehicle (MUV) Innova. Once this happens, the two cars will be the very first CNG fuel based ones proffered by TKM in the world.
Toyota Motors is presently learnt to be examining different kinds of CNG kits on Corolla and Innova at its Bangalore unit to see which one suits them best. The two CNG based cars from the TKM stable is expected to hit the roads in December. It is learnt that the Minda Auto Gas will be providing the new CNG kits to TKM.
It’s the same company which provides original equipments to Hyundai for its flagship car Santro and Maruti Suzuki for its LPG based WagonR Duo. The Japanese automobile company will, perhaps, introduce the CNG variants in metros like Delhi and Mumbai as CNG is presently available there. The launch at other CNG-compliant zones like Surat and Agra will follow after this. While Innova is already a market leader, the sale of premium sedan Corolla has also been climbing steadily. Industry insiders say TKM is targeting to tap the huge commercial sector of tour operators and fleet owners by introducing vehicles running on CNG fuel. Toyota Kirloskar Motors is all set to bank upon the high-demand of CNG vehicles.
