هوش هیجانی یعنی صداقت، یعنی آگاهی نسبت به احساسات خودمان و دیگران. دکتر دانیل

گلدمن در کتابش به نام کارکردن با هوش هیجانی می‌گوید «هوش هیجانی مشتمل بر پنج

قابلیت است که سه قابلیت آن در رابطه با تعامل فرد با خودش (درون‌فردی) و دو قابلیت

دیگر در رابطه با نحوه ِ برخورد فرد با دیگران (برون‌فردی) است».

این پنج قابلیت عبارتند از:

• خودآگاهی: هوش هیجانی با خودآگاهی آغاز می‌شود که ارتباط نزدیکی با ارزش‌ها،

نقاط قوت و ضعف شما دارد تا بتوانید هم‌زمان از طریق روش مناسب و سازنده احساسات

خود را ابراز کنید.

• خودگردانی (مدیریت برخورد): خودگردانی عامل اصلی در پذیرش مسوولیت اعمالی‌ست

که انجام می‌دهیم. مدیریت بر احساس خودتان باعث می‌شود وقتی با هیجانی روبرو

می‌شوید با انتخابی منطقی و دلایل کافی رفتاری صحیح در پیش گیرید.

• خودانگیزشی: تشویق و ترغیب افراد به تلاش بیشتر و مقاومت در مقابل افکار

مایوس‌کننده است. بر اساس نظریه ِ دانیل گلدمن، مجریان و کارگزاران برتر بر موانع

موجود غلبه کرده و می‌توانند بر محیط و شرایط موجود تاثیرگذار باشند.

• همدلی: توجه به احساسات دیگران. هم‌دلی فرد را وادار می‌کند که دنیا را از

دریچه ِ چشم دیگران ببیند. به طور خلاصه، هم‌دلی نیازمند درک، شناخت و پاسخ مناسب

به هیجان‌های دیگران است.

• روابط موثر: این‌ قابلیت، مجموعه‌ای از چهار مهارت هوش هیجانی ذکرشده است که

به فرد کمک می‌کند به طور دائم و مستمر و به طور مثبت با دیگران ازتباط برقرار کند.

روابط موثر، موجب اجماع و توافق عمومی شده و از اهداف گروه‌ها حمایت می‌کند.

هوش هیجانی می‌تواند در شرکت‌های مختلف موجب موفقیت‌های کاری شود.

من از این نظریه دفاع می‌کنم که هوش هیجانی منافع فردی زیادی در بر دارد، شامل

موفقیت در مسیرهای شغلی، تقویت روابط فردی، افزایش خوش‌بینی، اعتماد به نفس و

سلامتی.

هوش هیجانی ضمن کاهش فشار روانی (استرس)، محیطی به وجود می‌آورد که به حفظ سلامت

جسمی و تندرستی بهتر کمک می‌کند، به‌خصوص روی مفهوم دستیابی به سلامت جسمی و

تندرستی بهتر تاکید می‌کنم.

وقتی دچار فشار روانی می‌شویم این احساسات از سمت کمر حرکت و تا دست‌ها امتداد

می‌یابد و آن‌ها را تحت تاثیر قرار می‌دهد.

افرادی که به دلیل فشار روانی برای مشاوره مراجعه می‌کردند افرادی ناامید بوده که

دست از همه ِ احساسات خود کشیده بودند، حالتی خمیده داشته و برای پاسخ دادن به هر

سوالی فقط شانه‌های خود را بالا می‌انداختند. هوش هیجانی می‌تواند مزایای شغلی فراوانی از قبیل بهبود ارتباطات و کاهش تعارضات در

محیط کار به دنبال داشته باشد. با برقراری ارتباط می‌توانید اعتماد افراد را به دست

آورید. در محیط کار، اول نیازمند اعتمادسازی هستید.

تاثیر رفتار و حرکات، به مراتب بیشتر از ادای کلمات است. بیش از 65 درصد ارتباطات

را علایم تن‌گفتاری (زبان بدن) تشکیل می‌دهد. ارسال پیام‌ها صرفا در قالب کلمات

صورت نمی‌گیرد بلکه می‌تواند به وسیله ِ حرکات بدن نیز ارسال شود، لذا هوش هیجانی

کمک می‌کند تا پیام‌ها را بهتر مدیریت کنید.

هوش هیجانی در محیط کار می‌تواند به عنوان یک مزیت تلقی شود. ارتقاء شغلی هر فرد

بستگی به مهارت‌های هوش هیجانی دارد. بنابراین هوش شناختی (IQ) نمی‌تواند

پیش‌بینی‌کننده ِ خوبی برای موفقیت‌های شغلی فرد باشد.

هوش شناختی می‌تواند فرد را تا دم درب موفقیت ببرد ولی این هوش هیجانی‌ست که از

ابتدا می‌تواند از شما یک مجری و کارگزار برتر بسازد.

به هنگام استخدام کارکنان به مهارت‌های فنی آنان نیازمند هستید اما موضوع به

همین‌جا ختم نمی‌شود، چون اگر این افراد دارای بهترین مهارت‌های فنی هم باشند ولی

عنان خود را به دست روزگار بسپارند و کنترلی بر هیجان‌های خود نداشته باشند در

انجام وظایف حتما شکست می‌خورند.

داشتن مهارت‌های فنی برای انجام کار مهم هستند، مشاغلی مانند حسابداری، هتل‌داری،

امور اداری و تحقیق و پژوهش نیازمند مهارت‌های خاصی هستند، اما باید بدانیم برای

انجام وظایف به انسان نیاز داریم و مهم است که بپذیریم همه ِ ما دارای هیجان‌هایی

هستیم.

بنابراین هوش هیجانی عامل مهمی در تحقق اهداف تجاری‌ست و موجب افزایش بهره‌وری،

کاهش اتلاف زمان و غیبت‌های ناشی از بیماری کارکنان می‌شود.

هوش هیجانی موجب افزایش چرخه ِ نوآوری میان کارکنانی می‌شود که ایده‌های جدید را

مطرح می‌کنند، بهبود می‌بخشند و یا در نهایت اجرا می‌کنند.

وقتی به دنبال دلیل غیبت دانشجویان در آزمایشگاه بودم، متوجه شدم دانشجویان به این

دلیل از کار در آزمایشگاه خودداری می‌کردند که اساتید از هوش هیجانی پائین‌تری نسبت

به دانشجویان برخوردار بودند.

The role of government in your life and in society

1. A congressman said recently, "Government can be a force for good in your life." Do you:

a) Agree? You believe your taxes help the government identify the greatest needs in society and then solve those needs as it redistributes wealth in myriad ways. The government generally spends your money better than you do in these "big issue" areas.

b) Feel confused, because you've never really thought about the question, What is the proper role of government in my life?

c) Disagree? Government's role should be limited, and individuals should be left on their own to be responsible and to seek their dreams and achievements for themselves and their families, which will lead to the greatest good in a free society. Free markets, churches, voluntaryism and other private efforts are much more effective at solving many big concerns in society.

Free enterprise – profit, competition, certification

2. Martha Stewart should have gone to jail for life because she is part of the whole capitalist syndrome of greed, profiteering and corporate anti-environmentalism. Do you agree?

a) Yes. She is evil, and capitalism would be even more so without the welcome check of government regulations and prosecutors like New York's Eliot Spitzer.

b) Martha's real problem is an overweening personality that's just so, well, arrogant.

c) No, Martha is not evil. Most charges were dropped. Profit is not evil, either; in fact, profit is the basis for new investment in products, services and technologies. Profit makes companies stronger, giving them access to more sources of investment from financial markets. And yes, a portion of profit goes to those who took the risk on management's ideas – shareholders. And like Stewart or not, arrogance is not a crime.

3. A small coffee shop owner is upset that a Starbucks is moving into the same shopping center. The owner has organized a campaign to stop the new store from locating there. Such action is:

a) Laudable. Small-business owners always are being driven out by the big corporate bully. Such a fight represents the struggle of average folks against corporate behemoths.

b) Good to the degree that it represents the will of the people. If most members of a community don't want a Starbucks, then Starbucks should not open up there. Put it to a vote.

c) Reprehensible. Companies should be free to compete as long as government doesn't get involved. Let the best coffee win.

4. You discover the handyman who has been doing odd jobs around the neighborhood, including some construction projects, does not have a state contractor's license. Do you:

a) Call the state licensing board and demand that he be put out of business immediately?

b) Offer to study and take the written part of the exam for him so he doesn't get into trouble?

c) Rejoice that someone is finding a way around the state's occupational licensing laws, which function mainly to reduce competition and raise prices for consumers while offering little if any real protection for consumers?

If consumers believe they need an accreditation process for a profession, it could be accomplished privately, like an underwriter's laboratory for products or the college accreditation panels.

5. I'm confused about taxes. Should they be higher or lower?

a) Higher. Government is a great benefit to the people, and taxes should be increased so government can take on the most important tasks of society, be it health care, education or transportation.

b) The size of government is about right, but it could be better managed and some waste can be cut.
